Assembly Line

An assembly line is a manufacturing process in which parts are added to a product in a sequential manner to create a finished product more efficiently than with traditional manufacturing methods. It is a fundamental concept in mass production that revolutionised many industries by making the production of complex products, such as automobiles and electronics, faster and less expensive.

The process involves conveying the product through various workstations at a controlled pace. At each station, specific operations are performed by automated machinery or manual labour until the product is assembled. This method is known for its precision and ability to streamline manufacturing, minimising labour costs and enhancing productivity.

Assembly lines are characterised by their high volume, high efficiency, and specialisation of labour. They are often integrated with other advanced manufacturing technologies, such as robotics and computer systems, to optimise production further.
