UK Tissue Supplier Increases Production with Fully Automated Packaging Line

Client Requirements:

A UK-based facial tissues supplier came back to Jacob White for another fully automated production line to add to its current set up. Already happy with a number of our cartoners, they needed a system to ensure tissue clips are controlled when loading at high speeds. Their priorities were:

  • Typical average of more than 120 cartons per minute
• Reduction of reliance on manual resources
• Fully automatic solution
• Must be compliant with regulations for food industry packaging

Our Solution

During the consultation process we were able to ascertain the exact needs of the client for this phase of implementation. We were already familiar with their current set up and had a good understanding the company processes and procedures, as we had worked with them before on other production lines. We recommended our NS-X 6 automatic cartoner machine as a fully automated packaging solution.

These types of automatic packaging machines are perfect for handling delicate products such as tissues. By fitting an overhead compression system, we were able to ensure full control over the tissue clips during the carton loading process. The NS-X 6 is capable of handling tissues at speeds of over 120 cartons per minute.

The tissue packaging machine erects, fills and seals the carton and has an automatic reject facility that detects empty cartons and rejects them outside of the guard line of the machine. Powered belts discharge the filled and sealed cartons from the machine.

The End Result

The customer selected the NS-X 6 on our recommendation and were happy with the results as operations improved immediately. With full automation, reliance on manual resources was instantly reduced and operational productivity increased.

Operators were able, with minimum training, to change size variations within a few minutes, minimising downtime and creating perfect consistency in the finished products.
